Letitia James Confronts Criminal Financial Fraud Charges

A federal grand jury has charged Letitia James for bank fraud on Thursday, according to an informed source.

Lindsey Halligan personally presented the case to the grand jury on Thursday, the person said.

Federal prosecutors rarely appear before such panels.

Halligan took over as US attorney last month following the president grew impatient with the pace of investigations targeting political opponents.

The move is the president’s latest effort to leverage the Department of Justice to punish opponents.

It comes 14 days after Halligan obtained indictments against James Comey.

Career prosecutors drafted a memorandum regarding that situation explaining why charges were not warranted.

Comey entered a not guilty plea this past Wednesday.
