This race was expected to be one of the stronger editions of this unique seven-furlong competition for female horses. However, veterinary inspections led to multiple withdrawals earlier today, including leading runners Sweet Azteca and Tamara.

As a result, the lineup now appears much smaller, but trainer Bob Baffert stands a strong chance to secure his 20th Breeders’ Cup win. His runners include Richi along with Splendora, whereas Hope Road, winner of the Grade One Ballerina Stakes, is considered the primary threat.
